Specializing in knee and shoulder conditions at Resurgens Orthopaedics Dr. Chen knows what it's like to go under the knife. As a competitive runner in high school, he underwent major ankle surgery. He not only recovered from surgery, but also continues to run road races and even placed in the top ten in a marathon.
"My experience as a patient was extremely valuable. It allowed me to relate to patients undergoing surgery and to understand their concerns. Although most conditions can be treated without an operation, I realized how big of an impact surgery can have on athletes who want to get back to their sport. "
Specializing in arthroscopic knee and shoulder surgery, he has published articles in multiple peer reviewed journals and has presented his scientific research at several national meetings.
Known for his compassionate and caring demeanor, Dr. Chen believes all of his patients deserve the highest level of cutting edge, individualized care, whether they are professional athletes or retirees with shoulder pain.
Despite how busy he is, Dr. Chen makes it a priority to give back to his community. He is a team doctor for two local high schools and has volunteered his time in third world countries with Health Volunteers Overseas. He most recently had the opportunity to teach minimally invasive knee and shoulder techniques to orthopaedic surgeons in the Himalayan nation of Bhutan.

In his spare time, he is an avid runner, so he understands the unique concerns of the athletes he treats. Dr. Chen also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, photography and following college football.
