For ages 13 – adult. Instructor, Tom Harris will teach basic Dunun and Djembe Technique and Traditional Rhythms. Class focus will be to create an ensemble which can perform in the community. This class will accommodate beginning and intermediate drummers. Loaner drums will be provided. Fee: $60 per six-week session. Sessions:  August 5 – September 9; September 23 – October 28; November 11 – December 16; January 6 – February 10; February 24 - March 31; April 14 – May 19.

This clinic covers equipment, knot tying, casting, safety and other tricks of the trade. If time permits, participants may stay to catch the “Fish of Fish.” Instructors suggest wearing long pants and hiking shoes, and bringing snacks, water and sunscreen. Georgia fishing license and park fishing permit required. Register in advance. $10 or $7 with own gear. $3 parking.

New Manchester History Hike

This mile-long hike (easy to moderate) will lead us to the ruins of the Civil War-era New Manchester textile mill and focus on the history of the Sweetwater Creek valley. This historian or ranger-led hike will include going inside the impressive mill ruins and seeing the lovely whitewater rapids (both providing great photo opportunities). $1 - $2, plus $3 parking.

Luciano Pavarotti is one of the great opera stars of the 20th Century who passed away on September 7, 2007.  The concert will feature the voice of operatic tenor and member of the U.S. Army Chorus, Sergeant First Class Antonio Giuliano. This concert is free and open to the public.

Little Red Riding Hood~ Little Ones Production Workshop

A shop for the youngest of performer, ages 5 to 8 years. Participants will make simple costumes and sets, experience stage makeup, participate in rehearsals and take part in fun theatre games as they work toward presenting the 20-minute narrated production of Little Red Riding Hood at the conclusion of class. No memorization is required and each child gets a great role! Only 12 spaces available, so register early to secure your spot in this fun and creative shop! Performance: Saturday, August 9 at 7:45 p.m. for family and friends. Fee: $90.

Tomorrow's stars of NASCAR compete weekly in Legends Cars, Bandolero Cars and Thunder Roadsters.  Family-oriented fun in a kid-friendly environment which includes driver autograph sessions, rock climbing wall, clowns, face painters and more. Each night showcases a different theme packed with grandstand and trivia games, and more. Kids ages 6 – 12 are admitted for only a dollar while adults pay only $5. Kids ages 5 years or under are admitted free.

Lace up your hiking shoes and come see the nightlife of Panola Mountain. This adventure will introduce you to the nocturnal world of the forest and swamps.
